Theatre Royal Bury St Edmunds is delighted to be hosting the live final of Bury’s Got Talent 2019, following the two heats at Conservatoire EAST the final 8 performers have been chosen, along with 4 more “wild card” performers; they will all compete for a share of the £1000 prize (Sun 20 Oct).

Organised by the Theatre Royal Supporters Group, Bury’s Got Talent is a long-running fundraising event which throws the doors open to local performers to showcase their skills and talents. There were two heats which took place in the studio theatre at Conservatoire EAST before a panel of judges earlier this month, during which the 12 acts each night were whittled down to just four. The eight winners are then joined by another four “wild card” performers to make a new line up of twelve for the final, which takes place at Theatre Royal.

The winners from the first heat are: Lola Huckel, Hazelwood Dance Studios, Maisie Mae and Ruby Ambrose. The heat two winners are: Calling Kites, Grace Valentine, Jack Mitchell and Platinum Dance Academy. The wild card performers are Giuseppe Albergo, Ruby Decent, Charlie Knowler & Grace Morgan. The first prize winner will receive £750, second prize is £200 and the third prize will be £50.

The Theatre Royal Supporters Group was formed in 2014 and since then they have come up with novel and exciting ways to raise funds at their monthly meetings. In addition to the highly successful Bury’s Got Talent, events include The Ding Dong Daddios – a live swing band in the Greene King Garden; sponsored skydives; casino nights; car boot sales; and regular prize draws. Money raised is used for specific projects within the theatre such as essential technical equipment, as well as providing funding for shows and activities aimed at specific audiences such as Once Upon a Festival. The range of fundraising activities is extensive, and this is all achieved by local people who share a love of live theatre and the desire to help Theatre Royal in a practical way.

Bury’s Got Talent 2019, a fundraiser for Theatre Royal Bury St Edmunds (Registered Charity Number 242977) is at the theatre for one night only, Sun 20 Oct at 7pm, tickets are on sale via the Box Office, call 01284 769505, book online at www.theatreroyal.org/shows/burys-got-talent/ or visit the theatre in person.
