It’s Bookstart Bird Boogie time! National Bookstart Week 4-10 June

Next week is National Bookstart Week and libraries will be giving away free copies of the special BookTrust book ‘A Busy Day for Birds’ by Lucy Cousins.

National Bookstart Week is BookTrust's annual celebration of the joys and benefits of sharing books, stories and rhymes from as early an age as possible.  National Bookstart Week will take place from 4-10 June and this year’s theme is Bookstart Bird Boogie.

All the county’s libraries have been given copies of A Busy Day for Birds to give away at next week’s regular Bookstart sessions so parents can read them with their children. It's a great book to read aloud - full of actions to do and noises to make - and it's guaranteed to get 0-5s boogieing!

Each year, the charity BookTrust chooses a theme for Bookstart week to get families involved in fun, themed events across the country at libraries, children’s centres, bookshops and other settings, where they can share fantastic free books and activities with their babies and young children.

Some libraries are also holding special Bookstart Bird Boogie activities next week:

Long Melford Library are holding a Bookstart event at the Connect Mother and Toddler Group session at St Catherine's Church in Long Melford on Monday 4 June from 9am to 11am. Toddlers and their parents/carers are invited to enjoy stories and rhymes and meet Bookstart Bear.
