What is on this spring half term?

With another half term on the way, depending on how kind the weather is, you may be looking for things to do to keep your children entertained. There are some fantastic events and activities in Suffolk and to make it easier for all of us, we have put together some of our favourites. East Anglian Railway Museum - Transport Extravaganza, May 24. Our exhibition field hosts vechicles for two days, vintage train, and miniture railway will be joined by classic road vehicles. The Viaduct pub, will be open all day.

Ipswich Transport Museum - ‘OMO’ Buses and Coaches, May 25, 11:00 am - 4:00 pm. An event focusing on the buses and coaches from the 1960s to 90s usually manned by only one person, which saw the end of the humble bus conductor. Includes free bus rides to and from the museum.

Banham zoo - "Love Your Zoo" May 23 - May 31, 8:30 am -4:00 pm As part if BIAZA’s ‘Love Your Zoo’ week, find out about the discoveries and changes that have helped shape the zoo you love today.

African Alive: "Love your Zoo"  May 23  - May 31, 8:30 am -4:00 pm. As part of BIAZA’s ‘Love You Zoo’ week, find our how Africa Alive!, has changed over the years and what a zoo of the future may look like…!

LEGOLAND - "The LEGO Friends Big Build" May 23 - May 24, 9:00 am- 5:00 pm. To mark the opening of Heartlake City, our new LEGO® Friends themed area, we’ll be celebrating by creating a gigantic 8ft4in X 12ft7in LEGO® Mosaic of singing superstar Taylor Swift; after she topped a poll asking youngsters which celebrity they would most like as their best friend.  

Kentwell Hall  - Kentwell Through the Ages, May 23 - May 25, 10:00 am - 4:00 pm. Enjoy all our time periods at one event! Visit six centuries (with a few surprises along the way) in the space of a day!Half Term History Days, May 26 - May 29, 10:00 am - 4:00 pm. In a continuation of our Through the Ages event, join in activities with our costumed re-enactors as well as exploring the modern day Manor. 

Framlingham Castle - Bloody Mary Returns, May 23  - May 25, 10:00 am- 4:00 pm. Travel back to Tudor England and meet one of the most gruesome monarchs of all. Immerse yourself in the sights and sounds of the 1500s in our Tudor encampments and hear tales of Bloody Mary and how she got her grisly nickname. Ickworth House - Living History Empire Day, May 24, 10:00 am - 3:00 pm. Remember, remember, the 24th May, today it is Empire Day’. From 1902 to 1958 this day was designated a national holiday to celebrate the successes of the British Empire.

Landguard Fort Spring Half Term Trail May 23 - May 31, 10:00 am - 4:00 pm, Hunt out the clues around Landguard Fort – and join in the half term fun. Normal admission charges for the Fort apply, plus £1.00 for a trail sheet.

East Town Park- THE GREAT BIG BUGS AND BEASTIES HUNT, May 28, 12:30 pm - 2:30 pm & 1:30 pm - 3:30 pm Have a go at pond dipping & mini beast hunting with rangers on hand to help identify the creatures you find. You also get to take home & keep your own mini bug viewer. Suitable for ages 5-12yrs, under 8’s must be accompanied by an adult. Needham Lake- Prickles’ Story Walk, May 28 @ 9:30 am - 11:00 am. Join Prickles the Hedgehog on a trail of discovery around Needham Lake. Have fun with activities, games and a story for the young explorer. Recommended for ages 7 and under.

Lackford Lakes- Wild for the weekend – Things with wings, May 23  - May 25, 11:00 am -4:00 pm. Join our wildlife guides in looking at things with wings and other family activities to get involved in.

High Lodge, Thetford Forest- A wild day out- Wings over the Brecks Launch Event, May 25, 10:00 am - 3:00 pm. A day crammed with free family activities, talks, guided walks and more! Whitsun Fayre- May 24  - May 25, 10:00 am- 4:00 pm. Flower and plant market, Farmers Market, Mini-farm, Beach in the Traverse, Children’s Games, Circus Skills Workshop, Carousel in Arc, gift and craft stalls in Cornhill Walk Shopping Centre. Suffolk Show 2015- May 27 - May 28, 6:30 am - 5:00 pm. Come and find us at the Suffolk Show, this year dogs are welcome so hope to see lots of greyhounds there this year. An amazing show with so muct to see. Easton Farm Park- Magic Monday Easton Farm, May 25, 10:30 am - 5:30 pm

Ipswich County Library -Magic Workshops!, Come and have a magical experience with your child at Ipswich County Library! £3.00 per child – this includes a free pack of cards and some tricks.
